Meet Loren

Loren Keola Doctolero grew up shaped by the people and places around him, and his work has always centered on service and responsibility.

He was born at the former St. Francis Medical Center West, attended Waikele Elementary, and graduated from Waipahu High School. After high school, he spent formative years at the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu studying political science, where he developed a deeper understanding of how policy, leadership, and community intersect.

For more than a decade, Loren has worked in community-centered roles across nonprofit, cultural, and youth-serving organizations. He has led large public events, managed operations and budgets, supervised teams and volunteers, and partnered with local organizations to deliver programs that serve thousands.

He is the son of an immigrant father from the Philippines who served more than twenty years in the U.S. Army, and a Native Hawaiian mother whose family has called these islands home for generations. From his parents, he learned discipline, service, cultural grounding, and responsibility to community.

Outside of work, Loren remains involved in youth sports and leadership programs. He is running because this community shaped him, and he believes good leadership comes from empathy, preparation, and the willingness to act.

Priorities

Making Hawai‘i More Affordable

Families in our community should be able to afford to live, work, and raise their children here, without being priced out or pushed farther away from the place they call home.

Supporting Sustainable Food System

Supporting local agriculture and food systems strengthens our economy, lowers costs, and makes our community more resilient. Our families deserve reliable access to affordable, healthy food.

Investing in Education for a Stronger Future

When our schools are properly resourced and our teachers are valued, students thrive. That means preparing young people for college, skilled trades, or careers that allow them to build their futures close to home.

Building Safe, Connected Communities

People should be able to move through their neighborhoods safely and with confidence whether they’re driving, biking, walking, or using public transit. Thoughtful planning and responsive public services help keep our community connected and secure.
